Meet James

I arrived in the UK in September 2019 as an internationally trained nurse — ambitious, driven, and ready to give my best to the NHS.

The system was unfamiliar. Progression felt possible, but no one handed me a map. Early on, my line manager gave advice that changed everything:

“Be intentional. Build your network. Develop a niche where your expertise shines — and make sure the right people see it..”

I took it to heart. I became visible, strategic, and intentional about my career. There were bumps, potholes, and moments of doubt.

Along the way, life outside work was just as important — nurturing relationships, getting engaged, marrying, and raising a young family, all during a pandemic. I learned quickly: balance is essential because there is a thin line between work and home life.

From joining as a Staff Nurse in 2019 to serving as a Matron (Senior NHS Management) by 2024–2026 — not by luck or favor, but through clarity, strategy, and consistent action.
